What it takes…
On September 23, HUBTALKS brought together a diverse group of thought leaders from various professional disciplines. Our speakers — a financial author, a founder of a sustainable startup, an emerging tech and AI expert, a business coach, and a Mi'kmaq visual artist — shared their unique approaches to problem-solving, sparking engaging discussions that expanded our understanding of how to tackle challenges in innovative ways. Throughout the event, we explored several key themes that emerged from the speakers' insightful presentations:
Interdisciplinarity: Embracing the power of experimenting with new disciplines to discover unconventional results. Blending work-processes, expertise from different fields, and ways of articulation as the driver for fresh perspectives and impactful outcomes.
Alignment: We learned the importance of breaking the loops of iterative creative processes by refocusing on the alignment between our ideas and the needs of our target audience. Channelling our efforts more effectively and create meaningful connections.
Motivation: One powerful takeaway was the significance of reflecting on our own motivations. Understanding 'Why does solving this matter to me?' not only drives our commitment but also avoids distraction from the root-cause during our problem-solving journey.
Collaboration: Pooling knowledge, skills, and perspectives, enables us to extend our abilities and open new avenues for innovation. The synergy created through teamwork and collaboration brings remarkable advantages in the process of finding solutions.
Learning: Finally, the event highlighted the importance of continuous learning. To be a good advisor we have to listen to feedback, reflect on our experiences, and remain open to advice from others so we can instill a culture of growth and adaptation that will enable us to take informed steps forward.
